JCB 4DX Backhoe Loader Specification and Features

Most Productive Backhoe Loader

Backhoe Loader JCB Construction Equipment Excavator Heavy Machinery

The JCB 4DX is built to be the most productive backhoe loader in its class, powered by the JCB 444 turbo charged 4-cylinder water cooled diesel engine delivering 68.6 kW (92 HP) at 2,200 RPM and 408 Nm of max torque at 1,200 RPM. Its JCB synchroshuttle transmission with 4-speed fully synchromesh gearbox and electrically-operated reversing shuttle enables fast cycle times, while the power track steering system provides equal turn steering with less operating force. On the excavator side, the 4DX offers a max dig depth of 5.36 m and max working height of 6.25 m in long dig depth configuration, backed by a 6,125 kgf bucket tear-out force. As a loader, it delivers a 1,800 kgf payload with a 1.2 cu.m general purpose shovel. A tinted-glass cabin with servo-operated excavator controls, optional air conditioning and comprehensive instrumentation keeps operators comfortable and informed, while JCB LiveLink telematics enables remote monitoring of service, operation and security.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about the JCB 4DX Backhoe Loader specification and features, and similar equipment.

Why choose a JCB 4DX for construction and agricultural applications?

The 4DX combines a powerful excavator end with a 1,800 kgf loader payload and 1.2 cu.m shovel, making it suited to trenching, land clearing and material handling in a single machine.

How do JCB 4DX attachments enhance jobsite productivity?

Quick-attach options like clam shovel buckets, rock breakers, rippers and the Hydraulic Tool Circuit let one machine switch tasks in minutes, reducing the need for extra equipment on site.

What is the average resale value of a JCB backhoe loader?

Resale value depends on hours, maintenance history and market demand; well-serviced JCB units generally hold value better than average due to strong global demand for parts and service.

How does JCB optimize operator comfort and safety?

Tinted cab glass, servo-operated excavator controls, a fully adjustable seat, optional air conditioning and an audible/visual fault warning system are all standard on the 4DX cabin.

Where can I find JCB 4DX reviews and ratings?

Owner forums, equipment marketplaces and dealer walkarounds are good starting points; we're also happy to connect you with existing customers on request.

Which backhoe loader offers the best fuel economy?

The 4DX's JCB 444 turbo charged engine with auto shut-off is tuned for efficient fuel burn per hour compared to older non-turbo backhoe engines, without sacrificing digging power.

What size backhoe loader do I need for residential jobs?

For most residential trenching and landscaping work, a machine like the 4DX offers enough reach (5.36 m max dig depth) and working height without being oversized for tight lots.

How often should I inspect backhoe loader hydraulics?

Check hydraulic fluid level and hose condition daily before start-up, and schedule a full hydraulic system inspection every 250 operating hours.

Can I rent a backhoe loader by the hour?

Rental terms vary by provider; we offer short and long-term rental options — reach out via the form above for current hourly and daily rates.

What attachments are compatible with the JCB 4DX?

Heavy duty tyres, 6-in-1 clam shovel buckets, excavator buckets, ditch cleaning buckets, ripper tooth and rock breaker are among the optional attachments available for the 4DX.
